Sandor Tar, born in Debrecen/Hungary, began studying the violin at the age of six.The switch to double bass came in 1980 in the Conservatory of Debrecen.After one year in the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, Sandor continued his studies in 1984 at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin with Prof.Klaus Trumpf. In 1992, he became principal double bass player in the Philharmonia Hungarica and since 2001 is currently co-principal bass player at the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
